What a ride!

The end of May 2019 makes Petworth News four years old! This site was started on a fluke, and quickly became something of value to the community — which I’m extremely grateful for.

Just this week, our Facebook page hit 4,000 Likes (4,224 followers), 2,941 followers on Twitter and 1,730 followers on Instagram. That growth is all word-of-mouth — we’ve never done any marketing (yet!), while this site has about 30,000 readers every month. Extraordinary!

Every year since this site started, Petworth News has been named second place for Best Community Blog in the Washington City Paper’s Best of DC Readers’ Poll. We won in 2016, 2017, 2018, and in 2019, we were again named 2nd place for Best Community Blog (always a bridesmaid, never a bride).

Considering the number of other DC blogs out there, it’s humbling and gratifying to see that so many people enjoy the site. Thanks to everyone who voted!
