Estilo Jiu Jitsu, a martial arts studio inside a white brick corner building on Park Rd, has just entered its fifth year of operation in the neighborhood. What started as a pandemic-era gamble in a local garage by Luis Pantoja and Sara Fusco has now grown to a 125-student gym with classes and competition training for kids and adults.

One of Petworth’s fun holiday events returns to this week! The Upshur Street Craft Fair is on Saturday, December 13th, 10am-4pm, bringing a full day of shopping, entertainment and family-friendly fun.
The Petworth Library will close for renovations on December 11th. The goal of this renovation is to maintain the existing facility and provide a refresh that will ensure the library continues to meet evolving neighborhood needs. Interim services will be offered at the Mt. Pleasant Library or by US Mail.
On July 3, 2025 Leticia McCray called 911 for a family member experiencing a medical emergency. Fire and EMS Station #24 is located only two blocks away from Leticia’s home, meaning help should have been there extremely fast. However, that didn’t happen — the OUC operator made a mistake and sent the call to Takoma Station #22. These mistakes are costing precious time, property damage and potentially lives.
