An evening of food, drinks and the Gotham Knight at the Third Floor

I just found out that the Third Floor (the event space in the Murrell building above Slim’s) is hosting another “In Good Company” food and literary event on Saturday night, June 11th. And to my geekish delight, this time it’s about “The Caped Crusade: Batman and the Rise of Nerd Culture.”

The second installment of Trey Graham’s cocktails-and-conversation series “In Good Company” combines food, drinks and discussion over interesting art, books and cuisine.

The tournament was expanded this year to provide scholarship awards to the high school, middle school and female student-led teams who could most effectively dominate Petworth Park’s outdoor basketball court.

Celebrating Petworth: a photo gallery of the 2016 Festival

The third annual Celebrate Petworth Festival was a great time! The musicians were amazing, the vendors were great (the Petworth History tent was packed!), the cutest dog show was, well, cute, and the 3-on-3 basketball game was great to watch. A lot of talented kids (and some not-too-shabby adults, either).

The Celebrate Petworth Festival starts at 11am on Saturday, June 4th along the 800 block of Upshur Street. It's going to be a busy day with events that should please everyone, from kids to adults, from hungry people to those seeking some fitness. Food, crafts, music, dance, basketball, cute dogs. Cool.

Photos from the Petworth Jazz & Dance Project

I think the combination of the Petworth Jazz Project with the Petworth Dance Project makes for an incredible evening at Petworth Park. With dancers from Kalanidhi Dance, Nancy Havlik Dance Performance Group, Countess Winfrey and Company Danzante (who danced while the jazz band Véronneau played), there was an over-abundance to listen to and watch.

Petworth Jazz Project starts 6th season tonight at 8th & Taylor

One of my favorite Petworth events kicks off its sixth season at the Petworth Rec Center this evening. The Petworth Jazz Project offers music for kids and adults, yoga, professional dance and food, and one of the best opportunities to hang out with your neighbors. Of course I'll be there with my camera, like some neighborhood wedding photographer prowling the crowd.

The 2nd Annual Petworth News Shindig was, if I do say so myself, a great community party and a great time spent with really interesting people. Overall more than 120 people showed up to meet neighbors and fellow readers, enjoy great food compliments of the Pitch Tavern and grab some tasty cake. I'm thankful for everyone who came to the party and who reads Petworth News!

The Parents group at Powell Elementary, "Parents Organized for the Power of Powell" (or POPPS for short) is having it's 2nd Annual Spring Carnival, and they're inviting the entire community to come out and have fun on Saturday, May 14th from 10am - 3pm at the football field at Roosevelt High School. It's time to get your fresh on! The Petworth Community Farmer's Market launches its 2016 season this Saturday, May 7th at 9am!

The Petworth Community Market will run from 9am -1pm each Saturday, May through November. They have been busy during the off-season recruiting new vendors and planning fun activities and are excited about the variety of awesome vendors, music, and activities they have to offer, both returning and new.
